I’ve done some research and the Australian Ranger starts at $27,390 AUD. And ranges to 61,000 AUD. That means we are going to have a 21,000 dollar base model truck and the Lariat is gonna be 48 grand

I could never get my mind wrapped around a $48k Ford Ranger....

An XLT/XLT Sport SuperCrew for around $30k sounds nice.

Canadian pricing, but small trucks can be expensive.

nope :(
Unfortunately, it means the base model will be 27k US and the loaded one will be 61k US
Trucks are getting expensive, and the stupid 25% tariff shit means no competition

stuff is more expensive in Australia. you’re not far off of the mark, I’d expect prices to be pretty similar to the Colorado. the spread may be different since it looks like Ranger is going to have only one powertrain.

this is probably what I’ll end up getting. I had my hopes out for the diesel F-150, but if it’s restricted to Lariat and above then that’s a $50k+ truck. no thanks. I’m pretty sure the new Ranger with a 2.3 EB would get a lot better gas mileage than my gas-sucking 2011 Ranger Sport pig.

Jeeezuz - why so expensive for a little truck.

Look at the Colorado.
Now look at the Ranger.
Look back to the Colorado.
Now back to the Ranger.
The pricing will be the same.
Now look at me, I’m on a horse.

They are building them here so there is no tariffs or import taxes.
Also it’s competitive with the Colorado which base model is much less than 27 usd

diesel+ offroad package goodies+4wd+ quad cab

It’s an educated guess. But I was only 1,000 off the mark. Not to shabby

For $30, why not just a F150? I’ve never said “man, this truck can just haul too much”...
![]() 01/14/2018 at 21:57 |

This is gonna be a truck for the people. The f-150 already was, but that’s getting super expensive. So, f-150 capability with arguably a better looking design (the lights on the 2018 f-150 are just... no) and a low price means this is going to sell

Yeah, there is no tariff on the Ranger (or any other US-made truck), but the fact that they exist for foreign trucks is what causes the prices on even American trucks to be so high. The protectionist tariff shit.
For example, we don’t get the Amarok or Mitsubishi’s truck. And all those other cool Japanese trucks we don’t get. Since the cheaper competition is weeded out, the Americans can keep their prices high.

For $30k, I can’t get an F150 how I want it, so a Ranger with similar options would be nice. I’ve done a few thousand miles in my dad’s F150 2.7 EcoBoost in the past year and love it, but if I’m spending said money, I want something I genuinely desire.

The thing is trying to get an idea of how much the new Ranger will be in the U.S. based on how much elsewhere is never a true comparison.
I mean take an average of how much it is in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Norway, etc... some may be similar and some may be wildly off the mark.

Very confused on what this has to do with the ranger costing 7k more starting than the Colorado in your first post?
They are competing, no way that it will cost 27k starting
No offense but for you to suggest that because of this the ranger will start at it’s AUD pricing is rediculous to me. They have wiggle room and need to fill the market and the segment and 27k starting with a high of 60k will not succeed in the current market
Then everyone would just buy and f150

C&D has the base price listed as $19K, but I have a feeling that’s a holdout from the last gen truck.

Other than comparisons that aren’t really true, you’ve got to factor how much Ford dealerships are going to price gouge you for the privilege of buying one (they do it for the Stinger, Focus RS, etc...).

That’s been my experience as well. Cars are vastly more expensive in some countries vs others for little obvious reason

It’s a truck and they are starting from the back of the field, prices might be artificially high for the first few months but they are going to be throwing money at the buyer before to long to gain market share as quickly as possible

It’s called “Daddy wants a truck but mommy wants a nicely featured SUV.”
The compromise: a truck with all the luxobarge features and barely any of the get up and go.

Nope. Even as an Australian I recognise this. These are RRP not dealer prices.
The base 2 door Ranger which precisely no-one buys is more like $25K drive away. The popular XL and XLT models are high forties to low fifties.
The best way to go may be to price them against an equivalent model here in Oz to one that you already have over there.
$47,000 here will get you a Lexus CT200h. How much do they cost there? It might be a decent guide...

Most likely, but can you imagine if Ford were to really start the Ranger at $19k? Everybody and their grandmother would have one!

but base ranger is 2.2 4x2 single cab with tray.
![]() 01/15/2018 at 10:18 |

Yeah so it could end up price around 24-25 grand

Base Ranger is 2.3 single cab in us
